Mr. Gerald C. Barton has practiced personal injury and medical malpractice law for five decades since he founded Barton Barton & Plotkin, LLP in 1959. Mr. Barton has litigated numerous multi-million dollar cases to verdict, and as a result of his notable court victories, he is recognized as a successful and respected trial attorney nationwide. His achievements include the largest personal injury award in the U.S. in 1980 and the highest wrongful death award in the U.S. in 1991.
In recognition of Mr. Barton's trial skills, he serves on the Board of Directors (Emeritus) of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and was named one of the top lawyers in the New York Metropolitan Area in the New York Times edition of SuperLawyers. Due largely to Mr. Barton's success, BB&P has been awarded the prestigious status of Member of the Legal Referral Service of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Barton's additional professional memberships include the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Bar Association.

- $26.2 Million verdict in an automobile accident case for the death of a husband and father of three children and for serious injuries suffered by his wife
- $19.6 Million verdict in a medical malpractice action in which a surgeon failed to properly monitor a female patient following gynecological surgery, resulting in brain damage and visual impairment
- $6.6 Million verdict in the Court of Claims for a student at Brooklyn College who sustained second- and third-degree thermal burns over 22% of his body when the clothing he was wearing caught on fire while he was using a welding torch during an independent study class
- $4.4 Million labor law settlement during trial for a 32-year-old male whose leg was amputated below the knee after being run over by a forklift
- $2.9 Million labor law verdict for a worker who was injured while working on a defective elevator, resulting in a crush injury to his heel
- $1.08 Million verdict for an infant whose IV was not properly monitored, infiltrating her right foot and leaving permanent scarring and ankle deformity.
