Recent representative verdicts and settlements from Mr. Guiffra's cases include a: $2.26 Million verdict in Supreme Court, Bronx County for a construction worker who fell off a scaffold and suffered a broken right leg and right elbow with surgery; a $2.25 Million verdict in Supreme Court, Queens County for a maintenance worker who lost the tips of three fingers in a defective snow blower; a $1.6 Million verdict in Supreme Court, New York County for an asbestos handler who sustained injuries after falling down stairs at a construction site; a $1.08 Million verdict in Supreme Court, Kings County for a child who sustained scarring as a result of an IV infiltration; a $1.258 Million Verdict in Supreme Court, Nassau County for a pedestrian who sustained injuries after being struck by a car; a $1.975 Million settlement at trial in Supreme Court, Bronx County for a child who was a victim of lead poisoning; a $1.5 Million settlement at trial in Supreme Court, Kings County for failure to diagnose lung cancer; a $1.5 Million settlement at trial in Supreme Court, New York County for failure to diagnose ovarian cancer; and a $1 Million settlement at trial in the Supreme Court, King's County for a child who had sustained lead poisoning.
Mr. Giuffra is also an expert legal commentator and has appeared on "Primetime Justice" and "Court T.V. Live" regarding product liability actions. He also figured prominently in the Dutch documentary entitled "Equal Justice" regarding U.S. personal injury litigation.
In recognition of Mr. Giuffra's achievements as a trial attorney, he was appointed and serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Giuffra's success led led to his appointment to the highest panel of the Legal Referral Service of the New York City Bar Association. He was also appointed and serves on the Medical Malpractice Committee of The New York City Bar Association. Mr. Giuffra is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Giuffra received his law degree from St. John's University School of Law where he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Team and was distinguished by being named Best Advocate. He continues to volunteer at advocacy programs at several area law schools and the New York City Bar Association to assist in the development of advocacy skills of law students and has lectured regarding trial practice. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College where he graduated with Departmental Honors in History and was elected to Phi Alpha Theta in recognition of his work in the field of History.
